Press Releases Press Release Distribution Submit Press Release - 8 Year Old Takes Helping the Homeless To a Whole New Level
Zachary watched as his mother gave a homeless man in San Diego a couple of dollars, then they quietly observed the man as he bought liqueur and cigarettes with their hard earned money. Zachary’s mother vowed never to give money to the homeless again. But Zachary would not let the experience go without finding a solution.
A few days later we were coming down another freeway off ramp and saw another homeless person standing at the end of the ramp. His clothes were torn and dirty. I asked my mom if she was going to give him money. She then asked me ‘Zack, what would you do to help him if we didn't give money?& I started to rattle off some things and before you know it, came up with the Helping HandBag.
We were both so excited about the possibilities that we went to our local. 99 Cent Store that night to put our first Helping HandBags together." Each Helping Handbag contains a pair of gloves for warmth, cheese crackers for a hungry tummy, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a bar of soap, deodorant, a comb, adhesive bandages, and a reference card to facilities in the local area which help the homeless.
Zachary even has an informative web site, www.guiltlessgiving.com which gives the history, support, and ability to purchase these Helping Handbags for distribution. Included on the site are beautiful pictures reminding us of those that are in need.
There is even a picture of Zachary, a smart, funny, and innovative young man, and a blog in his own words. With the help of friends and family, Zach’s idea has taken off. If you would like to help and for more information on the Helping Handbag, please visit Zachary’s web site.
The answer to guiltless giving has been found through the resourcefulness of an eight year old boy. Audacious theft of luxury vehicle - $155k CAR STOLEN - Local - General - Daily Liberal
It is believed the top of the range BMW X5 4.8is, a 2006 model with registration JT-6003, was taken from a motel in Whylandra Street despite being left locked and secured by the owners. Police said the vehicle went missing between the time the owners went to bed after 10pm on Monday, and 7am Tuesday when they discovered the car was not where they had parked it.
It appeared the offender, or offenders, gained access to the motel room where the car owners were staying and stole a woman"s handbag containing the keys. They fled with the car and there have been no confirmed sightings since. There were a number of other items in the woman"s handbag including wallets, police said. Secured in the BMW at the time were a number of possessions including clothing and electronic equipment. The victims, who are from Sydney, reported the theft to Dubbo police early Tuesday morning.
A fingerprint assessment of the room was also completed and statements were taken from the victims. Anyone with information about the theft has been urged to contact Dubbo police on 6881 3222 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Robbery bid man jailed - Gazette Live
Adam Greener was armed with a silver revolver when he got into a woman's car at the junction of Roman Road and Rockliffe Road, in Linthorpe, Middlesbrough, and said: "Drive or I'll shoot you." Under the influence of drugs, he tried to snatch the driver's handbag from the passenger seat of the Peugeot 206, which was stationary in traffic, Teesside Crown Court heard.
After the driver began screaming for help Greener jumped out of the car but left the imitation firearm in the footwell. Greener, 20, of Westbourne Road, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to attempting to rob 46-year-old mum Kay Cotton, from the Eston area, of her handbag on January 15, and possessing a firearm or imitation firearm with intent to commit robbery.
Prosecutor Ian West suggested Greener had gone out with the intention of committing an armed robbery at the Tesco store on Roman Road, but due to the time being just after 4pm had found it full of school children buying sweets and gave up.
He didn't get a chance to do something which would have been more profitable than taking Mrs Cotton's handbag," added Mr West. He said Greener was arrested when he returned to the scene of the crime shortly after fleeing the car. The court heard he had been to a nearby family member's home where he changed his clothes. Local shopkeepers were able to point him out at the scene to police officers. His defence barrister Peter Sabiston said: "He has expressed a degree of remorse.
He cannot fully explain what he did that afternoon other than this - he had been taking too many drugs." Judge Brian Forster said: "This lady was clearly shocked at what had happened. She started screaming and banging on the car window. It's quite clear that she seems to have expected the worst.
This is one of the most serious set of circumstances one could find, it involves the specific statement by you - & 8216;Drive, or I will shoot you'. It is difficult to comprehend a more frightening situation." The court was told the revolver was an imitation which could not have been fired. Judge Forster jailed Greener for four years. Coach Shares Rise on Upgrade Chron.com - Houston Chronicle
Friday after an analyst upgraded the stock and said the luxury handbag and accessories maker's business has stabilized. While luxury goods are often buffered from such economic trends, Coach indicated last year that traffic had been weak at its U.S.
However, in January, Coach reported strong second-quarter profit and a 21 percent revenue increase, as sales at its factory stores offset weakness at retail locations. In a note to investors on Friday, Buckingham Research Group's David J. Glick said Coach's business has stabilized at a time when overall conditions have worsened. Consumers are cutting back on spending as they face rising gas and food prices and weak credit and housing markets.
Glick said while the consumer remains challenged, and handbag growth is unlikely to resume growing at the 20 percent it was previously, there are other factors working in Coach's favor. Those include improving Coach results at department stores, and innovative new product offerings for the fall that are being reviewed well, Glick said.
Earnings growth is more reliable than we had anticipated as the company confirmed second-half earnings per share guidance last month, despite the tough environment," Glick wrote. He upgraded the stock to "Strong Buy" from "Neutral" and set a $45 price target. Shares rose 69 cents, or 2.1 percent, to close at $32.92 Friday. The stock has traded between $23.22 to $54 during the past 52 weeks.

Parrots 'take off' in woman's handbag - National - theage.com.au
Welcome to The Age. Skip directly to: Search Box, Section Navigation, Content. Text Version. POLICE are searching for a well-dressed bird thief who stole two rare parrots from a Springvale pet store in a brazen lunchtime heist.
A woman entered the Australian Pet Superstore on Springvale Road, opened a cage, placed the two South American Sun Conure parrots in a large handbag and walked out with them between 1.15pm and 1.45pm on March 11. The nine-to-10-week-old birds, which are essentially miniature macaws, are worth up to $1500 each. Store owner Andrew Young said the birds had been hand-raised since birth and could die without proper care.
The pair had been fed a special daily diet of parrot feed, sprouts and a high-protein formula before they were stolen, he said. She (the thief) was a normal customer who just helped herself to the birds. One of the staff had been talking to her and walked out of the room to help somebody else and she's put the parrots into her bag and left. I'm not happy, especially if the birds are not looked after.
They'll die pretty quickly without proper care." Mr Young is offering a reward for the birds' return. Police yesterday released a picture of a woman they believe can assist with their inquiries. She is described as Caucasian, about 168 centimetres tall, of medium build with light-coloured hair. Information to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppers.com.au.
