GlossLip » Jennifer Lopez Shows Off Her Six Million Dollar Babies
The happy new parents spoke candidly to PEOPLE about the pregnancy, addressing everything from Jennifer's weight gain to rumors of infertility. For all the details, pick up the new issue, on newsstands Friday. And guess what? The babies..
You can see airbrushed photos of Jennifer in the $120,000 nursery, of Jennifer holding the babies, and of Jennifer gazing lovingly at Marc as he holds the babies. People magazine has been counting down to this on their website with the expectancy of a lunar launch. I guess they need to get their money's worth out of this little deal. But here's what I propose: I say that we don't buy the magazine. 6M for airbrushed photographs of J-Lo, in which the twins just so happen to appear, is ridiculous. Jennifer and Marc do not need this money.
They have more money than they know what to do with, and that is one thing that keeps them distant from reality. As I said yesterday, I have no problem with celebs splurging on whatever they like.. But by all accounts this $6M is going straight into their bank account, instead of being used, for example, to help those mothers and children who are less fortunate.
People could have offered to donate that money to a reputable charity in J-Lo and Marc's name, instead of giving it to greedy celebrities who will undoubtedly use it to purchase yet more gilded trim for the nursery. This is simply a publicity stunt for Jennifer.. I don't doubt that she loves her babies very much, but let's not fool ourselves into thinking that she wanted to share this moment with fifty million of her closest friends.
So, sorry.. I won't be spending one red cent to buy a People magazine. I don't even really want to link to them in this story, but I guess I have to. Regardless, they are cute, and I hope they live long and healthy lives. First i would just like to say that they are not the first celebs to charge money for there baby pictures.
Both of them are very private when it comes to there charity's. They give what they give most of the time without the press knowing anything about it. Both of them seem like down to earth people. I like many other people will be buying there magazine. I as a boriqua support them in any way i can.
She has waited a long time for this so Congrats. Comment by carmen irizarry & 8212; March 20, 2008 8:58 am Of course, they are cute. What baby isn't?? Are they worth me spending money to see them when I can go to the local grocery store in South Florida and see brand new Spanish babies every first of the month?? Noooooo. Whooppee, more latin american people procreating and thinking the majority give a hot sh t! TrackBack URI Leave a comment What?

CPJ News Alert 2008
This latest wave of shuttering publications, spearheaded by the Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry, occurred on Sunday. The Press Supervisory Board, part of the ministry, banned the magazines for publishing "photographs of corrupt foreign artists and details about their decadent lives" and "advertising for forbidden medicines and articles contrary to morality and offensive to the ethnic minorities," Agence France-Presse reported.
This unrelenting war on freedom of expression has reached absurd proportions," CPJ Executive Director Joel Simon said. The Iranian state is party to the International Covenant on Civil and Political rights, which enshrines freedom of expression and the free flow of information. We call on the government to immediately rescind their ban on these lifestyle magazines."
The magazines include Donya-ye Tasvir (World of the Image), Sobh-e Zendegi (Morning of Life), Talash (Effort), and Haft (Seven), according to AFP. The latest issue of Donya-ye Tasvir published pictures and articles about several female Hollywood stars, including Naomi Watts, Reese Witherspoon, and Nicole Kidman. The London-based daily Al-Hayat quoted the editor of Donya-ye Tasvir, Ali Moallam, as saying today that the ban of his magazine "came as a message to the Iranian movie industry."
He added that the next to be targeted "would be all writers, screenwriters, film school students, and film directors in Iran." The Press Supervisory Board, which is tightly controlled by hard-liners, also warned 13 other publications about the consequences of not abiding by the stringent provisions of the Iranian press law.
In January, the Press Supervisory Board, which ordered the closure of at least 11 publications in 2007, according to CPJ research, banned the reform-minded Zanan (Women) magazine without official explanation after nearly 16 years in print. 2008 Committee to Protect Journalists.

Terlato Wine Group :: Gourmet Goes Green: Study Confirms Luxury Wanted With Good Conscience
Of those, 92.5 percent said they would be more likely to purchase a luxury wine if it used sustainable techniques in growing the grapes and crafting the wine. One company taking note of that sentiment is Terlato Wine Group, owner of wineries in Napa, Sonoma and Santa Barbara, Calif.,
Chimney Rock, Rutherford Hill and Sanford. From growing the grapes, to crafting the wine, to creating a healthy environment for their workers, to using recycled shipping materials, Terlato believes small steps can add up to make a genuine difference. In fact, Doug Fletcher, Terlato's head winemaker, is interested in looking at the whole.
To me, sustainability means we should look at all the things that we do and how those things affect the eco-system." Fletcher warns against assuming organic or biodynamic mean more eco-friendly. He says many vineyards spray grapes with sulfur to protect against mildew because sulfur is naturally occurring and thus adheres to organic guidelines. However, Fletcher says that when sprayed, sulfur can kill all kinds of beneficial insects. Terlato does not spray with sulfur, but instead uses a targeted compound that works on mildew alone and doesn't harm insects.
It's man-made, and two times more expensive than sulfur, but in the end, Fletcher believes it's better for the environment. Gourmet food is also going green -- the right way.
If we consider the environment when buying organic veggies and antibiotic-free chicken, it only makes sense to consider the environment when purchasing luxury items, like caviar. The Little Pearl, a Massachusetts-based caviar purveyor, developed a technology to farm fish on land in greenhouses.
By doing so, it alleviates the pressure on wild fisheries, reduces the amount of feed necessary to farm caviar, and helps protect endangered sturgeon in other parts of the world. When asked if sustainability means sacrificing quality, The Little Pearl's founder and CEO, Richard Brauman, says quite the contrary.
To me, fresh and sustainable caviar is more luxurious than traditional caviar because when a customer indulges in the exquisite experience of eating it on blini with creme fraiche and champagne, they no longer have to worry about health or the environment." Like Brauman, Joe Whinney, the CEO founder of an organic and fair trade-certified gourmet chocolate company called Theo Chocolate, believes social responsibility only enhances his product.
There's no luxury in products that harm many and harm the environment in order to satisfy an elite few," he says. Some cocoa farmers earn less than a dollar a day. How can you enjoy a three or four dollar bonbon knowing others are being harmed?" All marketing terminology and scientific jargon aside, going green is really very simple. It's about the environment.
Sustainable, organic or biodynamic, we all want to head to the same spot," Fletcher says. The objective is to leave the environment in which we find ourselves in better condition than we found it." FCC bans exclusive telephone service deals in apartment buildings Tech news blog - CNET News.com
The Federal Communications Commission order, which passed unanimously, prohibits telecommunications companies from inking exclusive deals with multi-unit buildings that are primarily residential. It also throws out any exclusive contracts that already exist. The action builds upon the FCC's move last fall to ban exclusive deals for cable and Internet TV companies in apartment buildings.
It also extends a 2000 FCC order that banned exclusive contracts for telephone service in non-residential "multiple tenant environments," such as office buildings and shopping centers. Commissioners said the step was necessary to provide for consistency across various communications platforms and to encourage greater competition among providers.
More than 30 percent of American households live in so-called "multiple dwelling units." All consumers, regardless of where they live, should be able to enjoy the benefits of competition," said FCC Chairman Kevin Martin, a Republican. Telephone companies both large and small, however, have supported the FCC's bans both on exclusive phone and TV deals, arguing they're good for competition.
The National Cable and Telecommunications Association, which represents major cable providers, asked a federal court last December to halt the provision of the rules that throws out existing exclusive contracts, arguing the rule contradicts a 2003 FCC order that seemed to encourage such arrangements.
The real estate industry--namely the National Multi Housing Council--opposes both orders, arguing there's no evidence that regulation is necessary and that the FCC doesn't have authority to do so.
