For 35 years the American Cancer Society has used the flower for a fundraiser. This year they're delivering over $8,000 in Central Illinois. The group hopes to raise $83,000 dollars. Families or businesses donate money and the flowers are delivered to cancer patients all over the area.
Today people also had the opportunity to buy some flowers at the Shoppes of Grand Prairie. Kirstin Marshall from the American Cancer Society says, "It just brings them a little bit of sunshine, daffodil is the first flower of spring, just a reminder of brighter days are coming their way." Today was the last day to pick up flowers out at the shopping center.
Volunteers are also delivering flowers throughout the week.
