Audacious theft of luxury vehicle - $155k CAR STOLEN - Local - General - Daily Liberal
It is believed the top of the range BMW X5 4.8is, a 2006 model with registration JT-6003, was taken from a motel in Whylandra Street despite being left locked and secured by the owners. Police said the vehicle went missing between the time the owners went to bed after 10pm on Monday, and 7am Tuesday when they discovered the car was not where they had parked it.
It appeared the offender, or offenders, gained access to the motel room where the car owners were staying and stole a woman"s handbag containing the keys. They fled with the car and there have been no confirmed sightings since. There were a number of other items in the woman"s handbag including wallets, police said. Secured in the BMW at the time were a number of possessions including clothing and electronic equipment. The victims, who are from Sydney, reported the theft to Dubbo police early Tuesday morning.
A fingerprint assessment of the room was also completed and statements were taken from the victims. Anyone with information about the theft has been urged to contact Dubbo police on 6881 3222 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
